Second only to the Cathedral, the church was part of St. Nicholas Priory, founded in the time of William the Conquerer. The church had a Norman tower at the crossing and a 14th century western tower. Destroyed at the Dissolution in 1536, nothing remains of the church. The St. Nicholas Priory museum is located in the former West Range. The North Range has two parts, a mansion and a small museum open one Sunday a month. Today Mint Methodist Church sits on the site of the old Priory Church.
