North Walsham, Norfolk England UK
Church of England (Anglican)
The Black Death Plague epidemic, which decimated skilled craftsmen, greatly delayed expansion begun in 1330 of the Saxon church. Work was interrupted again by the Peasants Revolt; the church was finally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the end of the 14th century. Following the Reformation the dedication was changed to St. Nicholas.
This hymn is sung for the feast of St Nicholas:
Saint Nicholas the Shepherd true
Who brought his flock to faith anew
Now by his prayers and faith secure
Draws us, for Jesus to endure.
