Cathedral of St. Nicholas

Veliky Novgorod
Yaroslav's Court
, Novgorod Oblast Russia

Russian Orthodox

The five-domed Cathedral was founded in 1113 in Yaroslav's (the prince's) Court across the river from the Kremlin. The church had numerous changes over the years, including the addition of an interior second story and a large porch. Still, the cathedral is one of the oldest surviving Russian churches with 12th century foundation and walls, 17th-19th century alterations, and a late 20th century restoration attempting to restore the original appearance.
