Eisleben Germany
Evangelical Lutheran
St. Nicolai, built in 1420, is the oldest church in Eisleben—and the only one that still has a Gothic steeple. After modifications made in 1910, the church fell into disrepair with only small repairs carried out. When the roof threatened to collapse in 1972, it was closed. Citizens formed a group to rescue the church in 1988 and work on the building is still underway.
