Saint-Nicolas Chapelle

Gausson, Bretagne France

Roman Catholic

It is tradition that St Nicolas appeared to a washerwoman in a field of lavender near the spring under the west gable, showing that a chapel should be built. St Nicolas is celebrated here on the second Sunday in May. The celebration ends with a blessing of children, for Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of children. The chapel was built in the 16th century and altered in the 1800s.
