Pamplona Spain
Roman Catholic
Pamplona is on the French branch of the Camino de Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage Way of St. James. The Gothic church was built in the 1100s, thought to have been originally a defensive fortress. Destroyed in 1222 and rededicated in 1231. Many changes were made to the building in the 1700s and 1900s. The neo-Gothic porch was built in the 1800s. In 1982 14th century frescoes were found under the altarpieces.
