St Kilda East (Melbourne), Victoria Australia
Russian Catholic (Byzantine)
In 1960 the Chapel of Saint Nicholas was established in a large house to serve Russian refugees from China who had come to Australia in the 1950s. Icons were brought from China, others added later from Australia and Europe. The Chapel was part of the Saint Nicholas Russian Catholic Centre that includeds a hall used by the Russian community for concerts, lectures and other social events. In 2011 the Russian Catholic Community moved to a new church home, Holy Trinity St Nicholas, in the church that was formerly the St Kilda East Congregational Church. Services are mostly in Church Slavonic, though the last Sunday of the month is primarily in English.
