This replica of the Sint-Nicolaasgodshuis in Antwerp was part of the Belgian Village in A Century of Progress, the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. The Village contained thirty buildings, reproductions of cafes, medieval homes, a fish market, town hall and the church, from Brussels or Antwerp. Actual Belgian stone and brick pavements created an authentic atmosphere. Craftsmen, costumed from hundreds of years ago, populated the village and ancient folk dances featured in the town square. Milkmaids drove milk cards pulled by dogs, adding to the scene.
