Saint Nicholas on the Mole

Zakynthos City, Zakynthos Greece

Greek Orthodox

This ancient church, known as Saint Nicholas of the Quay or Saint Nicholas of the Elders, is the only Ventian-style building that survived the 1953 earthquake. Built in 1560 on a small harbor island, now joined to the mainland, the church belonged to the Mariners Guild for centuries. The church has been fully restored following the earthquake. St. Dionysios served the church as vicar and his vestments are kept in the church.
