Pfarrkirche St Nikolaus

Mannheim Germany

Roman Catholic

The church was built in 1930-32. The church was dedicated to St. Nicholas, patron saint of sailors, because of its proximity to the port of Saint Nicholas. Damaged during World War II, the church was reconstructed by 1948. The church was given parish status in 1956. Because of the priest shortage St. Nikolaus was served by the same priest as Herz-Jesu-Kirche; the two parishes were joined for pastoral service in 2007. The church originally had three bells, however two were taken for World War II and only one remains.
