The original 6th century church was dedicated to S. Salvatore. Through the centuries the church was enlarged and given Baroque ornamentation. Fire damaged the church in 1931. A new facade was built in 1950 and the belltower added in 1954. The organ was restored and paintings done in the latter 20th century.
