Izborsk Staryi
Izborsk Fortress, Pskov Oblast Russia
Russian Orthodox
The Izborsk Fortress church inside the main entrance dates from the early 14th century, first mentioned in 1341. The bell tower with a small narthex was built in 1849. The church has operated since its consecration until the present time. From 1920 to 1940 it was the oldest Orthodox church in Estonia; that was the period when Izborsk was in Estonia rather than Russia.
