Church of Saint Nicholas Dwindling

Pskov, Pskov Oblast Russia

Russian Orthodox

The church was built in 1535, replacing a building from 1371 that had burned. Altered over the centuries, it was restored in 1946, and from 1964-74. There is a small chapel extension with an icon of St Nicholas, Wonderworker, continuously lit by a sanctuary lamp. The name "Dwindling" comes from the church sinking into the ground. The church was returned to use in 2005.
