Eglise Saint-Nicolas

Cluses, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes France

Roman Catholic

The church was built in the early 16th century as part of a Franciscan monastery. The French Revolution expelled the monks and it was used for other purposes, including a store house for grains, hay, and wood. After a large fire destroyed much of Cluses in 1844, the church, spared as it was somewhat secluded, offered shelter to those in need. It was returned to religious use in 1847. The interior was considerably modified in the 1960s.
