The brick church was consecrated in 1907, taking the place of earlier wooden churches from around 1580 and 1668. The belfry is on the tower above the narthex. In the early 1800s the parish had around 2,000 members, serving over 7,000 houses in 1915. Icons date to the early 1600s. The church was closed from 1947 until 1954. Renovation took place in the 1970s to the presbytery, the belfry, purchasing three bells, and a new layout. Consecration was in 1980. More restoration took place in 1989 and 1993.
