Labiszyn Poland
Roman Catholic
There has been a church here since the 1100s—several different wooden monasteries and buildings. Fire completely destroyed the complex in 1720. It was rebuilt by 1731 and over the next years the church was given a stone floor, vault, clock in the facade, and oak for five new altars. The monastery was dissolved in 1829 and the former monastery church became a parish dhurch in 1833. In 1911 the nave was extended, a lodge, and large chapel added. During World War II the church was devastated—walls damaged by shells; altars, pews and pulpit destroyed; roof, windows and doors missing. The church was rebuilt in 1948 with major renovations in 1980 and 1996.
