Randazzo, Sicily Italy
Roman Catholic
The church, located in the Greek quarter, was built in 1594; the tower added in 1783. It is the largest church in Randazzo. The church dates back to the 1200s and was originally in the Norman-Swabian style. It was restructured in 1605. The church became a collegiate church with the churches of Santa Maria Assunta and San Martino. The original 14th century tower was destroyed by the 1693 earthquake and rebuilt in 1783. The interior was badly damaged by bombing in 1943. There is a miraculous St Nicholas marble statue that bled during a great famine that soon ended.
