Sloeshtica, nr North Macedonia
Macedonian Orthodox
The monastery church dates from around 1400. Remains of the old monastery cloisters, from the 5th to 6th century, are found on three sides. The church received its current form in 1536-1537, following demotion of all the earlier church except part of the western wall. The church was expanded by a meter on both the south and north, adding two chapels. The monastery was built at the confluence of the Kosanica and Toplica rivers by Stefan Nemanja around the middle of the 12th century. It is near an active mining site whose activity is damaging the walls. The interior is empty of furniture or inventory.
