The 18th century manor house was purchased to be the summer residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury in 1807. The Archbishops called it Addington Farm and it served as the official second residence for six archbishops. Sold in 1897, it was used by the Red Cross as a fever hospital during World War I. It was home to The Royal School of Church Music from 1953 until 1996. The Palace now a private conference and banqueting venue, popular for weddings.
