Görlitz Germany
[Evangelical Lutheran]
A church was in this place by 1100, however, this building dates to 1452. It has been rebuilt several times: in 1649 following destruction in the Thirty Years War and again after a fire in 1717. The St. Petrus Church became the parish church in the early 1500s and Nikolaikirche since served as a cemetery chapel. In 1925 it became a memorial to lives lost in World War I and now serves as an exhibition space. The surrounding cemetery is said to be the most beautiful in Germany.
