Ayios Nikolaos tis Stegis—St. Nicholas of the Roof

Kakopetria Cyprus

Greek Orthodox

The church is one of the most interesting Byzantine churches on Cyprus. It is about five kilometers from the village and was once part of a monastery complex. The interior is completely painted with frescos from the 11th to the 17th centuries. The name comes from the steep roof, designed to protect the church from the weather.
