Kalyazin / Kaljazin, Tver Oblast Russia
[Russian Orthodox]
Kalyazin is located on the Volga River. Most of the town was flooded in 1940 when the Uglich Resevoir was built. The monastery complex was lost, though the belltower of the 18th century St. Nicholas Church remains as a picturesque landmark. The town was relocated to higher ground. People still visit the belltower.
