The church is the oldest Greek Orthodox church on Syros, built in the mid-1500s. It is "Agios Nikolaos Ano Syros (of the Poor). The name dates from the 1900s when its revenue was used to support the poor of Eroupolis. The church is a small, single-aisle church with a distinctive bell tower.
