The Field Chapel, dedicated to St Nicholas, had a churchyard, but no burials and it did not have a font. When the church goods were inventoried by King Edward VI, there were two bells, a sanctus bell, a silk vestment and alb; all were taken to Tithby. After that time, the chapel faded from use and there is no further mention of it, Although the churchyard still appears on a map in 1788. Deep ploughing over the site has turned up stones and tiles from the building. And some of the older walls in the village contain dressed stone thought to have come from the ruined chapel. The chapel was originally known as the Chapelle of Crophille.
