The church was built in 1910 and held services as a Roman Catholic basilica until 1919. In the Soviet time it housed a house of culture, an event venue, officers offices, a cinema, and a children's and youth sports school. In the early 1990s it was transferred to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and divine services resumed in 1991. It was named a monument of architectural heritage in 19995,
