East Melbourne, Victoria Australia
Antiochian Orthodox
St Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church has served the Antiochian and other Orthodox in Melbourne for over seventy years. It has had a special place in Lebanese community life, providing a religious and community centre for many first, second and third wave immigrants from Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle EastIt has also welcomed other newly arrived Orthodox communities, such as the Russian, Ukrainian, Macedonian and Serbian. communities. They worshiped St. Nicholas until they were able to establish their own churches. In this way St. Nicholas could truly be described as providing "the cradle of Orthodox life" in Melbourne.
St Nicholas continues to represent Orthodoxy to the wider Christian and Australian communities, providing services in Arabic and English.
