Kladnitsa Bulgaria
Bulgarian Orthodox
The monastery is of ancient orgin, but was destroyed during the time of the Turks. Local people rebuilt the churches and they eventually became part of a larger monastery complex. In 1830 an old man dreamed that he was to rebuild the monastery. It was reconstructed from 1841-1845 and the man became the first father superior. He was killed in 1848, but the monastery continued until communist nationalization in 1944. Though not a functioning monastery today, the local authorities have done restoration work.
