Ljubanci, Skopska Crna Gora North Macedonia
Macedonian Orthodox
Saint Nicholas is the only church in the Ljubanci Monastery. Legend tells that the monastery was built from 1849-1858, following a villager's dream. The five throne icons were made in 1853. Other frescoes date from 1881. During World War II it served as a tuberculosis hospital and recuperation center. It's been a men's monastery until 1960 when it was converted for women in 1998. The whole monastery complex is a declared cultural monument of Macedonia.
