The church was first built by royal guards in 1657-62. The refectory and belfry were added in 1692. The church was rebuilt in 1811 following vandalism by Napoleon's troops. It was closed in 1934 and used as a laboratory. The bell was given to the Bolshoi Theatre and is now at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Elokhovo. Restored in the 1960s, it was returned to worship in 1991. The church is on Bolshaya Ordynka.
