All that remains of the Augustinian Sisters monastery are the ruins of the Hl. Nikolaus church. It was established in 1137 under Monastery Springiersbach. The church was given to the town of Neef in 1204. The renown Staurothek, icon reliquary of the True Cross, was brought by crusaders of the 4th Crusade in 1204. It remained in a special chapel here for 585 years (it is now in the cathedral museum in Limburg). In 1685 the dilapidated church was replaced by a late Gothic one, now in ruins. The church and monastery were converted to other use in 1787.
