Chiesa di San Niccolo

Cortona, Tuscany Italy

Roman Catholic

The church dates to the 15th century and has fine paintings by the 15th century painter Luca Signorelli. It was chosen in 1440 as the seat of the oratory of the Compagnia Laicale di S. Niccolò and continued until it was abolished in 1782. Reestablished in 1952 the group maintains the church, keeping it open for visitors. The coffered ceiling was restored in 1768 and the portico in 1930. A watercolor on the right of the entrance is of S. Niccoló by Gino Severini.
