Castro dei Volsci, Lazio Italy
Roman Catholic
The nucleus of the church dates from the mid-6th century, though most of it is from the 1100s. The noteworthy frescos portray biblical scenes from the old and new testaments, particularly creation and the fall. A fine example of early Christian architecture in the Middle Ages, the church has recently been restored. St. Francis of Assisi is said to have performed a miracle when visiting this church in 1222.
