The origianl building was destroyed in the early 1600s by Polish invaders. The current stone church was buil in 1765-66. Confiscated by the Soviets in 1931 it was used as a bakery. The bakery closed in 1984. The ruined building was returned to the church in 1992 and rebuilt. The first service was in 1995. The shrine church is on Bakuninskaya Street, across the street from the parish church of the Intercession.
