Old Believers Russian Orthodox
The Russian Orthodox Old Believers church was built in 1866 and was the only Orthodox church at the time. It was renovated in 1923 and 1956. It has now fallen into bad repair. The Old Believers separated from the Russian Orthodox Church in the 1660s when liturgical changes were introduced, bringing the Russian Church liturgy closer to Greek liturgical practice. The Old Believers held to earlier traditional Russian Orthodox ways, suffering persecution in Russia until 1905. The church is a historic monument.
