Kostel sv. Mikuláše

Mikulášovice Czech Republic

Roman Catholic

Even before 1346 there was a chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas. It is believed to tell the legend of knights on a bear hunt who prayed for help from St. Nicholas and the bear left without attacking the knight. A larger church was built from 1551-55 and the present church dates from 1694. It was enlarged in 1701 and again reconstructed in 1743. The bells were taken during World War I, and again in World War II. They were replaced in 1986.
