The church was probably one of the first Gothic buildings in the region, dating from the mid-1200s. It was rebuilt in the 14th century and enlarged. A dome lantern was added to the tower in the early 1700s. It fell to neglect after World War II. The roof fell in 1979, the tower dome removed, and windows and doors were lost. Scheduled demolition was averted with the fall of the Communist regime. Some repairs took place in 1994-95.More information
