Kostol sv. Mikuláša

Sazdice Slovakia

Roman Catholic

The church dates from around 1330 and was built in early Gothic-style. An Italian artist decorated part of the interior in the 1470s. It was modified around 1500 and redone in a Baroque style around 1700. The church closed for renovation in 1897 and the wall paintings were restored. Restoration took place again in 1913, 1932, and from 1988-93. The frescoes were restored from 2000 to 2007. They are the most valuable examples of medieval paining in Slovakia and beyond.
