In 1917 St Nicholas the Wonderworker was chosen as the patron saint and heavenly protector for the new, primarily Russian, parish in Akron which held its first Liturgy that year. A new, larger church was consecrated in 1955. The present church, in Mogadore, was dedicated in 1984. Thke 1963 iconstasis was brought from the former church.
