The Cathedral was consecrated in 1128 and is the destination for the Way of St. James (Camiño de Santiago). The original chapel of St. Nicholas was demolished to create direct access to the chapel of Santa Maria la Antigua Corticela, which was once a parish church outside the cathedral. San Nicolas' dedication was then added to the chapel of Saint Anthony.
