The parish was established in the early 14th century. Rebuilt from 1740-43, it was destroyed by earthquake in 1783. The church was rebuilt again in 1786 and again damaged by earthquake in 1894. Rebuilt again it was condemned following the 1908 earthquake and demolished in 1909. The new church was consecrated in 1932. The collegiate church became a co-cathedral of the diocese of Oppido Mamertina-Palmi in 1979.
