St. Nicholas Cathedral—Valuyky Assumption Nicholas Monastery

Valuyki, Belgorod Oblast Russia

Russian Orthodox

The church, built in 1906, was the main monastery church, dedicated in 1913 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty and the 300th anniversary of the monastery founding. The church was closed in 1926. In 1935 it was converted for other use, with the crosses removed and a foundry inside. For many years it was half-ruined. The basement was rained and cleaned in 2002 and it was examined to determine its condition. Restoration began in 2007, with the support of the Archbishop of Belgorod and the government. The cathedral was re-consecrated in 2011.
