The monastery includes three rock churches dating from at least the 1700s, forming Monastery Valley. The wall was built and the monastery renovated in 1856 when citizens of all religions were granted equality before the law. Renovations were completed again in 2012, restoring the original appearance using photographs from around 1900. The complex is now an open air museum.More photos
