Church of St. Nikolai Chudotvorec

Melnik Bulgaria

Bulgarian Orthodox

St. Nicholas, built in the 13th century, has been rebuilt and enlarged over the centuries. The present appearance dates from 1756, though the church burned in 1895 and was rebuilt in the early 1900s. One of the few functioning churches in Melnik, it has metropolitan status and is a listed cultural monument. The frescos and icons are notable examples of Melnik style.
