Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church

The work in Barton coal mines brought immigrants to the area at the end of the 19th century. Establishing a church, far away from church authority was not an easy task. A charter was obtained in 1911 and the new building was consecrated in 1916. It was extensively renovated in the 1980s. The church belongs to the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese.
