Passau, Bavaria Germany
Roman Catholic
Originally an Augstinian Abbey, the complex is now home to the Motherhouse of the Teutonic Sisters. The monastery was established in 1070. An earthquake destroyed the church in 1348 and the church was rebuilt. The tower dates from 1420. At the dissolution of the monastery in 1803 building was used as a military hospital, then as the Nikolai Barracks, housing soldiers, with the church as a storehouse for military equipment. After World War II the convent was a refuge camp and later housed the Academy of Social Education. The University of Passau now occupies the south and west wings. The sisters are in the north and east wings, providing an academy, kindergarten and nursing home..
