Church of Saint Nicholas—Tolga Monastery

Yaroslavl, Yaroslavl Oblast Russia

Russian Orthodox

The monastery was built in 1314 following the revelation of an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. The St. Nicholas Church was built in 1652 as part of the monastery complex. Soviets closed the monastery in 1926 and the buildings were used for various purposes, including housing. Returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1987, the complex has been restored and is now home to a women's convent.
