Nakolec North Macedonia

Macedonian Orthodox

Nakolec is known as the Venice of Macedonia, as the lake came up into the village until 1960. Houses were built on wooden pilings and there were canals between the houses. People moved about by boat and the church was literally in the water. People came by boat to light candles in the 1921 shrine church. The church has been moved further inland from the shore of Lake Prespa.
