Binger Loch
nr Assmannshausen & Rüdesheim

Roman Catholic

Each year on the Second Sunday of Advent, the people of Assmannshausen go by ferry, passenger ship, yacht, and other boats in procession to this small chapel on Bingen Loch. (Bingen Loch is the narrowest spot on the Rhine, widened in the 17th century, 1832 and the 1990s.) The wooden St. Nicholas statue from the chapel in Assmannshasen is carried in the procession. The event, with prayer and a St. Nicholas song, is organized by the Schiffsverein of Assmannshasen. The chapel was built in 1908.
