Stari Grad, Hvar Croatia
Serbian Orthodox
The oldest part of the church, small Romanesque, is from the 12th/13th century. It was enlarged with a Gothic-Renaissance nave in 1500. A small stone room on the southside of the church was built in 1559 for Lukric, a hermit who walled herself inside and lived there for 35 years. Fraternities of sailors have cared for the church and the walls are covered with ex votos (tamatas) of ships and paintings of ships in storms. The wooden altar triptych was carved by Venetian sculptor Antonio Porija in 1614.
