The church dates from the14th century, with additions until the 17th, and is regarded as one of the best in the old city. The church was given to the Serbs to use as a Cathedral during World War I when the exiled Serbian government came to Corfu. The church served as a meeting place for the resistance during the German occupation. The church has a St. Nicholas relic.
